30 MICRON FITTING ELEMENT
Description
Function and technical context
The RACR12P 30 micron filter element acts as a separation barrier within the boat's fuel system, retaining solid particles, sediment and contaminants larger than 30 microns in size before they reach the injectors, fuel pump or precision engine components. It works integrated into Racor type filtration assemblies, widely used in both petrol and diesel marine engines, forming a critical part of the power circuit. The presence of unfiltered impurities in the fuel can cause clogging of injectors, premature wear of the pump and poor combustion, with the consequent loss of propulsion performance and the risk of breakdown during navigation. A filter element in good condition is, therefore, an active safety piece that protects the investment in the boat's powertrain.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms that indicate that the fuel filter element needs replacement are: difficult or irregular starting, drops in power under load, fluctuations in rpm when cruising or the fuel pressure warning light on the dashboard coming on. As a general rule of preventive maintenance, it is recommended to replace the filter cartridge every season or every 100-150 hours of operation, whichever comes first, adjusting the frequency if the fuel used is cloudy or if the boat operates in areas with a lower quality supply. Renewing the RACR12P element preventively at each seasonal inspection prevents costly breakdowns at sea and ensures that the power system always operates within its optimal parameters.
