Description

Function and technical context

The Racor RAC120AS filter acts as a water-fuel separation barrier in the supply circuit of marine engines, intercepting suspended solid particles, microorganisms and humidity before they reach the fuel pump and injectors. It works integrated into the feeding system between the tank and the high pressure pump, being the first protection link of the injection train. Its design supports both petrol and diesel, making it a versatile solution for boats with different types of propulsion. With a maximum flow rate of 57 liters per hour, it covers the needs of medium and high performance engines without generating supply restrictions. If this component becomes saturated or deteriorates, the engine can suffer cavitation in the pump, blockage of injectors and progressive power losses that lead to unexpected stops while navigating.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of a clogged marine fuel filter are difficult cold starts, jerks or drops in speed at full load, black or bluish smoke in the exhaust and unstable idle; The presence of water in the separator also indicates that the cartridge must be renewed immediately. For fuel filters in marine use, visual inspection is recommended during each seasonal maintenance and replacement of the filter element every 100-200 hours of navigation or at the beginning of each season if use is intensive. Replacing the cartridge preventively is the most economical measure to avoid breakdowns in the injection pump or injectors, the repair of which can multiply the cost of the filter by ten.
