The most common symptoms of deterioration of the selector lock plate are difficulty engaging the gears accurately, the sensation of the selector being loose or without clear retention between positions, and spontaneous gear jumps while navigating. It is recommended to check this component during each seasonal maintenance, especially if excessive play is detected in the gear lever or abnormal noises when selecting forward or reverse gear.
