Function and technical context

The anti-salt applicator is a maintenance tool specifically designed to facilitate the uniform application of protective and salt neutralizing products on outboard engines, inboard engines and marine propulsion systems exposed to salt water. It works on the cooling system and on the external surfaces of the engine, allowing the anti-salt product to be distributed in a controlled manner in internal ducts and hard-to-reach areas where salt deposits and sodium chloride crystals tend to accumulate more intensely. The accumulation of saltpeter in cooling circuits and metal components causes galvanic corrosion, clogging of ducts and premature deterioration of gaskets and seals, so periodic and precise application is decisive to prolong the useful life of the engine. Using a specific applicator guarantees that the product reaches critical areas without wasting product and without the risk of contaminating other sensitive components.

When to replace this part?

The anti-salt applicator must be checked at the beginning of each nautical season and replaced when it presents deformations, blockages in the nozzle or loss of tightness that prevent correct and uniform application of the product. It is recommended to use the applicator after each session in salt or brackish water, especially in engines that do not have an integrated flushing system, since salt deposits consolidate quickly in the cooling circuits. Keeping the applicator in good condition and carrying out the anti-salt treatment systematically avoids costly interventions due to internal corrosion and considerably extends the life of the engine.
