The Champion RL82C spark plug is part of the ignition system of the petrol marine engine and its mission is to generate the electrical spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture at the precise moment of the combustion cycle. Properly timed ignition ensures that fuel energy is used to the maximum, keeping propulsion power and consumption within the engine design parameters. When the spark plug is worn or dirty, the spark becomes irregular or disappears completely, causing misfires, jerky acceleration and a noticeable increase in petrol consumption.
