Function and technical context

Sacrificial anodes are the anti-corrosion shield of any jet propulsion, and this aluminum anode for Hamilton Jet with Ø38 diameter fulfills exactly that mission on the submerged metal components of the propulsion unit. Made of high-purity aluminum alloy, it acts as a negative electrode in the galvanic cell that is formed when different metals are in contact with salt or mixed water, attracting electrolytic corrosion to itself and thus preserving the body of the jet, the impeller and the structural supports. Its Ø38 geometry is designed to precisely fit the specific attachment points of Hamilton Jet propulsion systems, ensuring the electrical contact necessary for galvanic sacrifice to be effective. Without an anode in good condition, corrosion directly attacks the most expensive and most difficult to access parts, potentially compromising the structural integrity of the jet unit in a few seasons.

When to replace this part?

The clearest symptom that the anode has completed its cycle is the loss of between 50% and 60% of its mass: when it is visibly reduced, cracked or hardened with calcareous deposits, it no longer protects effectively. In boats that navigate in salt or brackish water, the inspection should be carried out at least once a season - ideally at each beaching - and complete replacement at the end of the season or when wear exceeds half of the material. Replacing the anode preventively is the lowest cost intervention that exists to avoid corrosion damage to propulsion components that can involve repairs of several thousand euros.
