ANODO GORI Ø 6mm 16-28mm (AL)
Description
Function and technical context
Sacrificial anodes are the main cathodic protection shield for the GORI propellers and the submerged metallic elements of the boat against galvanic corrosion. This aluminum anode with Ø 6 mm stem, designed for variable pitch GORI propellers with hub diameters between 16 and 28 mm, is installed directly on the propeller to act as a less noble electrode, sacrificing itself electrochemically in place of bronze, stainless steel or brass components. Being made of aluminum, it is especially suitable for navigation in brackish and salt waters, where electrolytic activity is more aggressive, offering more effective protection than zinc anodes in these conditions.
When to replace this part?
The most obvious symptom of an anode exhaustion is the visible reduction in its mass: when the anode has lost approximately half of its initial volume, it must be replaced immediately, since its protection capacity is compromised. The inspection should be carried out at least once a season, ideally at each beaching or painting of the hull, and the anode should never be painted or its metal surface covered, as this would completely nullify its protective function. Replacing the anode preventively is the most economical measure to avoid severe corrosion of the propeller hub and other propulsion elements, the repair or replacement of which can involve a much higher cost.
