ANODE KIT YAMAHA 300 350
Description
Function and technical context
Sacrificial anodes are essential components in marine propulsion engines operating in salt or brackish water. This kit provides the necessary anodes to protect the metal parts of the Yamaha 300 and 350 engine against galvanic corrosion, a chemical process inevitable when dissimilar metals remain submerged in conductive water. The anodes corrode in a controlled manner in place of critical internal engine surfaces, acting as a protective barrier to the cooling system and internal aluminum components. Without this active protection, accelerated corrosion would deteriorate the water passages, cooling galleries and cylinders, compromising the sealing and heat dissipation capacity of the engine.
When to replace this part?
Sacrificial anodes require visual inspection at each seasonal tune-up and replacement when they show visible wear greater than 50% of their volume. If the boat operates permanently in salt water or frequently navigates, it is advisable to check the condition of the kit every 150-200 hours of operation, since the consumption of the anode indicates that it is fulfilling its protective function. Replacing the anodes preventively before they are completely exhausted prevents the engine from being left unprotected against galvanic corrosion, which can lead to very expensive repairs in the cylinder area and cooling circuit.
