The Yamaha 6BL-11325-00 sacrificial anode is a critical component in the cathodic protection system of marine engines submerged or partially exposed to salt water. This element acts as an electrochemical barrier, preferably oxidizing to prevent galvanic corrosion from attacking the engine block, cylinder head and internal passages of greater value. By absorbing corrosive ions from the marine environment, it preserves the structural integrity of the propellant and protects critical components such as cylinder walls, cooling circuits and adjacent accessories that, without this protection, would be doomed to accelerated deterioration due to oxidation.

When to replace this part?

Indirect symptoms of burnout include accelerated corrosion on cylinder head shells, abnormal rust on engine mounting nuts, or limescale deposits in cooling passages. Preventive replacement before total collapse prevents emergency repairs at sea and ensures continued protection of the engine investment over years of operational service.
