Description

Function and technical context

The propeller is the final component of the propulsion chain: it transforms the rotational power of the outboard motor into effective thrust on the water, directly determining the speed, acceleration and fuel consumption of the boat. This AMITA4 four-blade propeller is made of aluminum alloy, a material that offers a good relationship between structural strength and lightness, being the most widespread option in boats for recreational and semi-professional use. With a diameter of 14.80 inches and a pitch of 15 inches, and turning clockwise (clockwise as seen from the stern), it is designed specifically for Suzuki engines, guaranteeing correct coupling with the corresponding tail shaft and drive pin. An inadequate or damaged propeller causes loss of optimal engine speed, increased consumption, vibrations in the propulsion train and even damage to the shaft and bearings.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the propeller needs to be checked or replaced are: abnormal vibrations at any speed, notable loss of top speed or thrust during acceleration, difficulty reaching the engine's reference rpm under load, and unusual noises coming from the stern. Impacts with submerged objects, coarse sand or rocky bottoms cause warping, notches and deformations in the blades that alter the hydrodynamic profile and must be corrected immediately. It is recommended to visually inspect the propeller during each seasonal maintenance and replace it if any deformation occurs, since sailing with a damaged propeller subjects the engine and shaft to irregular stresses that can lead to much higher cost breakdowns.
