Multi-d Propeller ALUM.AMITA4 13.80X19 Right Hand
Description
Function and Technical Context
This four-blade marine aluminum propeller with Multi-d geometry, 13.80 inch diameter and 19-pitch, acts as the final force transmission element between the engine-transmission assembly and the water, converting engine torque into propulsive thrust. It works directly coupled to the outboard motor's tail shaft, being the component that defines the actual operating regime of the engine: a 19-pitch in right-hand rotation is calibrated to maintain the engine within its optimal rpm band in recreational and sport-use vessels of medium length. The four-blade AMITA4 geometry promotes uniform thrust distribution, reducing cavitation during acceleration and improving hull plane stability at cruising speeds. The right-hand rotation makes it specific for standard installations on Suzuki and OMC engines; mounting a propeller with incorrect rotation direction or pitch causes engine over-revving or under-revving, excessive fuel consumption and premature wear of the seals, bearings and gears in the lower transmission unit. The marine aluminum alloy offers an appropriate ratio between mechanical strength and cost for recreational-use vessels, absorbing minor impacts with controlled deformation that protects the internal transmission components.
When to Replace This Component?
The clearest indicators that the propeller requires inspection or replacement are: perceptible vibrations in the transom or rudder at different speeds, loss of top speed or thrust on acceleration, and metallic noise or buzzing from the shaft caused by blade imbalance. Surface erosion from cavitation—visible as pitting or cratering on the blade pressure face—and deformations from impact with submerged objects drastically reduce propulsive efficiency even when the damage appears minor to the naked eye. It is recommended to visually inspect the propeller at each seasonal maintenance interval and after any impact in the navigation area, since a blade with minimal deformation generates sufficient imbalance to accelerate seal and shaft bearing deterioration; replacing it preventively at the first signs of trouble prevents more costly failures in the lower transmission unit.
