FORWARD GEAR PINION BEARING 93332-000W7
Description
Function and technical context
This bearing constitutes a fundamental structural element in the drive train of Yamaha outboard motors, specifically in the forward gear system. Its function is to provide radial and axial support to the gear pinion, allowing the transmission assembly to operate without excessive friction and with the precision necessary to transmit power from the engine to the propeller. Wear or deterioration of this bearing compromises the alignment of the pinion, which generates vibration in the drive shaft, metallic noises in the transmission and, in advanced cases, can cause seizure of the gear system with the consequent total loss of propulsion.
When to replace this part?
The drive pinion bearing should be inspected at every seasonal maintenance check, especially after seasons of intensive boating or in salt water that accelerates corrosion. Symptoms of aging include a grinding or clicking noise in the gearbox during engagement, excessive play detected when manually moving the drive shaft, or abnormal vibrations while cruising in forward gear. Replacing this bearing preventively avoids much more expensive repairs that require complete disassembly of the stern unit.
