Function and technical context

The rocker cover gasket is a sealing component that seals the upper chamber of the engine, where the timing mechanisms and valve actuation system are housed. Integrated into the engine sealing circuit, its mission is to prevent the lubricating oil from escaping to the outside and, simultaneously, prevent the infiltration of contaminants, humidity and external particles into the rocker arm area. A poor seal at this interface causes lubricant losses, increased oil consumption between service changes, and in advanced stages, allows the entry of water that degrades the viscosity of the oil and compromises the operation of the internal distribution organs.

When to replace this part?

Typical indicators of deterioration include visible oil stains around the rocker cover, lubricant dripping in areas adjacent to the engine block, and abnormal increases in oil consumption between overhauls.
