Function and technical context

This specialized tool is designed to facilitate the removal and installation of the trim and tilt system pistons on outboard engines. It works directly on the engine's hydraulic orientation circuit, allowing the mechanic to precisely manipulate the trim pistons (measurements 4 mm and 4.5 mm) without damaging the internal components of the hydraulic cylinder. An incorrect intervention on the trim pistons, carried out without the appropriate tools, can cause hydraulic leaks, loss of pressure in the system or irreparable damage to the cylinder, rendering the engine trim unusable and leaving the boat inoperable.

When to use this tool?

This tool is essential when symptoms of failure are detected in the trim/tilt system: failure to raise or lower the engine, loss of trim position under load, dripping of hydraulic oil from the stem or slow response of the system. It is recommended to have this tooling in any inspection or repair of the hydraulic yaw cylinders, since attempting to remove the trim pistons without the appropriate tool is the most common cause of additional damage during maintenance. Having the correct tools from the beginning of the work avoids repeated interventions and reduces the boat's stranding time.
