Function and technical context
Marlin TF self-polishing antifouling acts as a chemical and physical barrier on the hull of the boat, releasing biocides in a controlled manner that prevent the adhesion of marine organisms such as algae, barnacles, mussels and other fouling agents. Unlike hard matrix paints, the self-polishing formulation erodes with the friction of water during navigation, continuously exposing fresh layers with active biocidal activity. This mechanism ensures sustained protection throughout the season without the need for sanding between applications, maintaining the hydrodynamic shapes of the hull and reducing drag, which translates into lower fuel consumption and higher speed. The white version with reference 108001 is available in a 2.5 liter format, suitable for medium-length hulls or for applying several coats on smaller boats.
When to replace or reapply this product?
The most obvious sign that the antifouling has lost effectiveness is the appearance of visible biological incrustations on the hull: verdigris, filamentous algae, barnacles or mussels that easily adhere, especially in areas of little water circulation such as the horn or rudder blade. A helmet without active protection accumulates biofouling in a few weeks during the warm months, increasing dead weight and drag significantly. It is recommended to apply a new coat of self-polishing antifouling at the beginning of each nautical season, after light sanding if excessive accumulation of previous layers is observed; Applying it preventatively before spring grounding avoids costly pressure cleaning work and possible damage to the hull laminate.
| Tipo de embarcación | Aplicación recomendada | Observaciones |
|---|---|---|
