Function and technical context

The 11499M fuel pump membrane is the watertight component that seals the pumping chamber and controls the pressure within the fuel supply system. This part works inside the mechanical fuel pump, performing alternative movements that suck fuel from the tank and propel it towards the carburetor or engine injection system. Its integrity is decisive to maintain a constant and uniform pressure, avoiding internal leaks, air entry into the fuel line and guaranteeing the reliable supply demanded by the 6C, 6D and 8C series two-stroke engines.

When to replace this part?

Symptoms of membrane wear include loss of pressure in the pump, difficulty starting when cold, irregular engine operation at low rpm, and in advanced cases, air entering the fuel line causing unexpected stops. It is recommended to inspect the membrane during each seasonal inspection and replace it preventively every 2-3 years of intensive use or if there is any sign of leaks in the pump. Changing it preventively is much more economical than facing a major engine repair at sea.
