When metals of different electrochemical potential coexist in a saline environment, an electric current is generated that progressively destroys the noblest components; The anode, made of a less noble metal alloy, oxidizes in a controlled manner in its place, preserving jackets, exchangers, ducts and other elements of the refrigeration circuit.
