Description
Function and technical context
The carburetor gasket is a critical sealing component in the fuel delivery system of Yamaha engines. This piece ensures sealing between the body of the carburetor and its internal sections, preventing petrol leaks and the entry of uncontrolled air that would compromise the air-fuel mixture. A poor seal in this gasket causes loss of power, unstable idling and excessive fuel consumption, in addition to the risk of petrol spills during navigation.
When to replace this part?
Typical symptoms of a damaged carburetor gasket include difficulty starting, visible drips around the carburetor area, a strong fuel odor in the engine area, and loss of speed while cruising. Although there is no fixed replacement interval, this gasket should be inspected annually at the beginning of each boating season and replaced preventively if it shows signs of hardening, permanent compression or cracking. Preventatively replacing the gasket before it fails prevents emergency repairs in the water and prolongs the life of the carburetor.
