Function and technical context

The impeller is the rotating component of the outboard engine's water cooling system: its flexible rubber vanes generate the flow that pumps seawater from the lower intake to the cooling circuit of the block and cylinder head. Without an impeller in good condition, the engine immediately loses cooling capacity, which can lead to severe overheating, warping of gaskets or irreversible damage to the block. This impeller is manufactured to fit directly into the water pump of the Suzuki two-stroke models of the DT series, guaranteeing the necessary flow to maintain the working temperature within safe limits throughout navigation.

When to replace this part?

Impeller blades harden, crack or warp with continued use, especially after sailing in water with sand or suspended sediment. The most common symptoms of a damaged impeller are the temperature warning light going off, the reduction or disappearance of the cooling water jet in the control nozzle and the engine stopping due to overtemperature. It is recommended to replace the impeller every 200-300 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season as a preventive measure; Changing it on land before each season prevents a breakdown while underway that could lead to costly engine repair or afloat assistance.
