Description

Function and technical context

This 10W30 synthetic marine oil works in the lubrication system of four-stroke outboard and inboard-outboard engines, acting as a protective film between the moving parts of the engine to reduce friction, dissipate the heat generated during combustion and keep the internal passages clean. Its synthetic formulation, certified NMMA FC-W and with API SJ/SG classification, differentiates it from conventional mineral oils by offering greater thermal stability and much slower degradation in marine use conditions, where loading cycles are long and the saline environment attacks metals. The 10W30 multigrade viscosity ensures effective cold starting and optimal protection at full load once operating temperature is reached. Using an inadequate or out-of-specification lubricant in a marine engine can cause premature wear of the crankshaft, pistons and distribution, increase consumption and, in extreme cases, cause engine seizure while sailing.

When to replace this oil?

The recommended change interval for 10W30 synthetic marine oils in four-stroke engines is generally every 100 hours of operation or at the beginning of each boating season, whichever comes first. Symptoms of low lubricant include a dark, cloudy color on the dipstick, foam or emulsion (a sign of water contamination), a burning odor, or an unusual increase in engine temperature while cruising. Performing a preventive oil change, along with the oil filter, before leaving the boat in dry dock protects the internal components from winter corrosion and avoids costly mechanical interventions at the beginning of the next season.
