Its main function is to retain solid particles, sediments and free water present in the diesel before they reach the high pressure pump and injectors, elements that are extremely sensitive to contamination. Filtration at 2 microns is especially demanding and is designed for common rail injection systems and precision pumps where even microscopic particles can cause premature wear, loss of tightness or blockage of nozzles.
