Description
Function and Technical Context
This carburetor gasket kit ensures sealing at all critical points of the fuel supply system in two-stroke outboard engines. The carburetor gaskets seal the joints between the carburetor body, float bowl, diffusers and air-fuel mixture passages, preventing leaks that would affect fuel metering and engine performance. Poor carburetor sealing causes loss of power, difficult starting, irregular mixture and excessive fuel consumption. This kit includes all gaskets necessary for a complete carburetor overhaul, and is compatible with Mercury/Mariner/MerCruiser references 802131 and OMC 0398453, 0439072, 391305, 398452, 398453, 3985453 and 439072.
When to Replace This Part?
The most common symptoms indicating carburetor gasket deterioration are: persistent fuel odor in the engine compartment, fuel stains or traces around the carburetor, rough idle operation, engine stalling under load or difficulty maintaining rpm. It is recommended to inspect and renew the carburetor gaskets during each major maintenance service, especially after prolonged lay-ups, as the ethanol present in modern gasoline degrades rubber and sealing materials more rapidly. Replacing the gasket kit preventively during seasonal tune-up avoids unexpected breakdowns while boating and extends carburetor service life.
