Description

Function and technical context

The 1 1/2" naval bronze female/female tee (pipe tee F.F.F.) is a pipe accessory that allows a fluid circuit to be diverted or branched in three directions with internal threads in the three outlets. In nautical installations it is commonly used in seawater cooling circuits, bilge systems, fresh water distribution on board and wet exhaust circuits, where it is necessary to divide or gather flows without loss of tightness. Bronze naval, alloy with high resistance to marine corrosion, guarantees prolonged durability in contact with salt water, river water or coolant mixtures, making it the appropriate technical choice for permanent installations below the waterline or in bilges. A poor or deteriorated bypass can cause leaks in the circuit, pressure drop, uncontrolled water entry or engine overheating due to loss of flow in the cooling system.

When to replace this part?

Bronze accessories in seawater circuits must be inspected during each seasonal maintenance, paying special attention to signs of dezincification (reddish or orange discoloration on the surface), microcracks in the body, leaks in the threads or calcareous deposits that reduce the passage section. In cooling circuits, a T in poor condition can generate flow losses that manifest themselves as increases in temperature in the motor, overtemperature alarms or reduction of the exhaust water jet. It is recommended to preventively replace any accessory that shows symptoms of advanced corrosion or deteriorated threads before starting the season, since a leak while sailing can lead to a costly breakdown or a safety risk on board.
