Description

Function and technical context

This three-way ball valve acts as a flow distributor or diverter element within hydraulic, cooling or on-board water evacuation systems, allowing the flow to be directed towards one of the outlets or blocked completely by a quarter turn. Made of AISI 316 stainless steel, it offers superior resistance to marine corrosion caused by salt water, humid environments and common chemical agents in the bilge. The T-shaped maneuver allows three functional positions, making it a versatile solution for installations where alternative circuits need to be managed without the need for multiple independent valves. Its female/female/female connection in the three ports, with a diameter of 2 inches, facilitates direct integration into high-flow pipes present in bilge systems, marine engine cooling, high-capacity fuel circuits or sanitary installations of recreational and work boats. The lock incorporated into the handle prevents accidental actions and guarantees that the service position remains stable in the event of vibrations or movements of the helmet.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of deterioration in a marine ball valve are leaks in the area of the stem or in the seats of the ball, loss of tightness when closing - which translates into passage of fluid even with the handle in the closed position - and seizure of the ball due to lime deposits, galvanic corrosion or biological incrustations that prevent correct rotation. In saltwater environments, it is recommended to check the condition of the valve during each seasonal maintenance, checking the smoothness of the rotation, the absence of leaks and the correct operation of the handle lock. Replacing the valve preventively when detecting any sign of rigidity or microleaks avoids serious breakdowns during navigation, especially in critical circuits such as sea closure or cooling system control.
