Function and technical context

This plastic female fitting acts as a transition connector between a rigid pipe with a 1/2" thread and a flexible hose with an internal diameter of 16 mm, allowing watertight connections to be made in water cooling circuits, auxiliary fuel supply systems or bilge lines in pleasure boats and outboard and inboard engines. As it is a hose adapter in the female version, it is screwed onto a male fitting already installed on the engine or in the pipeline, offering a smooth 16 mm outlet on which the hose is fixed with a clamp. Its correct installation is decisive to maintain the tightness of the circuit: a cracked connection or a damaged thread can cause coolant leaks, loss of flow or entry of air into the system, leading to overheating of the engine or irregular operation of the water pump.
