Function and technical context

GS90008 Clear Antifouling Spray is a direct-applied protective coating designed to inhibit the adhesion of marine organisms—algae, barnacles, mussels, and bacterial biofilm—to submerged vessel surfaces. It acts by creating a long-lasting biocidal barrier that protects hulls, propellers, tail shafts, anodes, transducers and other elements exposed to salt or fresh water. Its transparent formulation makes it especially suitable for surfaces where it is required to preserve the aesthetics of the base material, such as fiber transom, probe sensors or stainless steel propellers. The absence of pigmentation does not reduce its protective effectiveness, being a practical solution for difficult-to-access areas or components with complex geometry where conventional brush antifouling is ineffective.

When to apply or renew this product?

The clearest sign that the coating has exhausted its useful life is the appearance of visible biological incrustations – verdigris, barnacle shells or layers of silt – on the treated surfaces, which increases hydrodynamic resistance and increases fuel consumption. As a preventive criterion, it is recommended to renew the application at the beginning of each navigation season or every time the boat remains out of the water for beaching, following the manufacturer's instructions regarding the number of layers and drying time. Keeping submerged surfaces properly protected avoids costly hull cleaning at the dock and prolongs the life of propellers and transducers.
