Volvo Intermediate Seal 181620

The intermediate seal is a critical component of the intermediate shaft sealing system in Volvo Penta marine engines. Its main function is to prevent water and lubricant seepage between the intermediate shaft and the engine casing, ensuring the operational integrity of the propulsion system under prolonged sailing conditions and variable load cycles.

Installed in the transition zone between the intermediate shaft and the transmission components, this seal ensures the hermetic seal necessary to maintain the correct internal pressures and prevent contamination of the lubricating fluid. Its progressive wear can cause leaks that compromise the thermal and mechanical efficiency of the propellant.
