Function and technical context

Marlin TF self-polishing antifouling is a hull bottom paint designed to protect the hull of motor and sailing boats against fouling by marine organisms such as algae, mussels, barnacles and other biofouling that colonize submerged surfaces. Unlike conventional bottom paints, its self-polishing Copolymer (SPC) technology gradually releases biocides as the hull moves through the water, maintaining an active, clean surface throughout the entire boating season. This controlled action prevents the accumulation of organisms that increase the drag of the hull, which directly translates into increased fuel consumption, loss of speed and long-term structural damage to the fiberglass, steel or aluminum of the hull.
