Function and technical context

This 4-blade aluminum propeller, with a diameter of 13 inches and a pitch of 15, is the final component of the outboard's hydrodynamic transmission: it transforms the mechanical power of the engine into effective thrust on the water. Designed with right-hand rotation, it works directly on the tail shaft of the powertrain in Suzuki engines of the DF and DT series. The 4-bladed geometry of the AMITA4 series provides a larger thrust surface compared to 3-bladed designs, improving acceleration under load, mid-range stability and reducing vibrations transmitted to the hull. A deterioration of the propeller - due to impact, cavitation or wear of the blades - causes loss of propulsion, increased fuel consumption and can generate abnormal mechanical stresses on the shaft and the bearings of the conical group.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the propeller needs to be checked or replaced are: unusual vibration when accelerating, notable loss of top speed or thrust when starting, abnormal noise coming from the stern and difficulty reaching the usual working RPM. Impacts with bottoms, stones or floating debris can bend or chip the blades, altering the dynamic balance and accelerating the wear of the shaft seals. It is recommended to visually inspect the propeller at the beginning of the season and after any grounding or impact; Replacing it preventively in the event of the slightest structural damage prevents damage to the axle and higher-cost repairs in areas that are difficult to access.
