Function and technical context

The propeller is the fundamental propulsion component of any outboard motor: it transforms the mechanical power of the engine into thrust, directly determining the speed, acceleration response and fuel consumption of the boat. This Amita 3 three-blade aluminum alloy propeller, with a pitch of 23 and a diameter of 14.2 inches, is designed specifically for Suzuki outboard engines, adjusting to the rev ranges and reduction box of said propellers. Marine grade aluminum offers a good ratio between lightness and strength for recreational and intensive use in marine conditions. An inadequate, worn or damaged propeller causes loss of thrust, engine overstress, increased consumption and risk of cavitation, compromising both the performance and useful life of the propeller.

When to replace this part?

The most common signs that an aluminum propeller needs to be replaced are: bent blades, visible dents or deformations after an impact with submerged objects, abnormal vibrations at any rotation speed, notable loss of top speed or difficulties in reaching the working RPM recommended by the manufacturer. Unlike other components with a fixed hourly interval, the propeller must be visually inspected at the beginning of each season and after any collision, no matter how minor. Replacing a damaged propeller in time prevents damage to the shaft, seals and gearbox, repairs that are much more expensive than the propeller itself.
