Description

Function and technical context

The INOX Rubex L3-E 15.5x17 propeller in the left version is the propulsion element responsible for transforming the power of the marine engine into the movement of the boat. It works directly coupled to the transmission shaft, receiving engine torque and generating thrust through the rotary movement of its three blades in a counterclockwise configuration. Its 15.5-inch diameter and 17-inch pitch geometry has been calculated to optimize the relationship between initial acceleration and cruising speed in medium-displacement boats. The stainless steel construction protects against corrosion in saline and sweet environments, ensuring structural integrity even after seasons of intense use without significant depreciation of hydrodynamic performance.

When to replace this part?

A marine propeller requires replacement when it presents deformations in the blades, loss of material due to cavitation erosion, radial fractures, visible unbalance that generates abnormal vibrations in navigation, or when the propulsive performance is significantly reduced without apparent cause in the engine. Although stainless steel resists corrosion, impact with rocks, submerged debris, or pitch changes due to material aging can compromise efficiency. It is recommended to inspect the propeller at least once per sailing season, paying special attention after sailing in shallow waters or with the presence of weeds; Replacing it preventively avoids persistent vibrations that transmit structural fatigue to the engine and transmission, reducing future repair costs.
