YAMAHA IMPELLER 6E0-44352-00
Description
Function and technical context
The impeller is the central component of the marine engine's water pump, responsible for circulating the cooling fluid through the engine block and its internal passages. This element works within the water cooling system, driving the flow necessary to dissipate the heat generated during combustion. Its operation is critical: a worn impeller drastically reduces water circulation, causing engine overheating, loss of power and risk of catastrophic breakdown while sailing.
When to replace this part?
Rubber impellers degrade from exposure to salt water, temperature changes and continuous friction: if you notice low engine power, abnormal overheating or a burning smell in the water pump area, it is a sign that the impeller is compromised. It is recommended to inspect and replace preventively every 300-400 hours of navigation or at least once per season of intense use, especially before long voyages. A preventive replacement at the dock avoids running out of cooling at sea and significantly prolongs the engine's useful life.
