Its mission is to contain the flow of cooling water that circulates from the outside to the engine block, preventing leaks and pressure losses in the circuit. When the cover deteriorates, cracks or loses its tightness, cooling water can partially escape, compromising cooling efficiency and causing the engine to reach dangerous operating temperatures.
When to replace this part?
After years of exposure to salinity, thermal changes and marine corrosion, this cover may present cracks, deformations or loss of tightness that are evident in drips around the pump or in abnormal readings on the engine thermometer.
