The water pump body constitutes the central structural component of the cooling system in Yamaha F2.5 and F2.6 series engines. This piece houses the impeller and channels the flow of water from the inlet to the internal galleries of the engine, ensuring continuous circulation of the coolant to maintain the operating temperature within safe limits. A damaged, cracked or internally eroded pump body causes coolant leaks, reduced circulation flow and, consequently, overheating of the impeller that can cause irreversible damage to cylinders, pistons and seals.

When to replace this part?

Replacing the pump body becomes necessary when water leaks are observed around the coupling area with the impeller, when the motor tends to overheat even with clean cooling systems, or when corrosion deposits and internal erosion are detected after disassembling the impeller. Although there is no fixed maintenance interval, it is recommended to inspect the internal condition of the body during annual tune-up checks, especially in salt water where corrosion accelerates tearing. Preventatively replacing this part when wear is observed prevents costly emergency repairs and ensures efficient coolant circulation throughout the boating season.
