Function and technical context

The water pump body is the main structural component of the cooling system in Yamaha engines. This part houses the impeller and the internal ducts through which the coolant circulates, extracting heat from the engine to the outside through the radiator or heat exchanger. Without a pump body in perfect condition, coolant circulation is compromised, causing heat accumulation points that can lead to engine overheating, loss of performance and irreversible damage to gaskets, cylinders and cylinder heads.

When to replace this part?

The water pump body should be inspected when there is visible corrosion on its casing, thermal fatigue cracks, lime deposits in the internal passages or coolant leaks around its seals. It is recommended to check the general condition of the cooling system at least once every boating season or every 100-150 hours of operation, especially in salty waters or waters with high mineral content. Preventively replacing the pump body before it fails avoids costly emergency repairs inside the engine and ensures navigational safety.
