YAMAHA HEAD GASKET 6J8-11181-A2
Read the review
Description
Function and technical context
The head gasket is a critical sealing component that is placed between the cylinder head and the engine block, ensuring the tightness of the combustion circuit and the cooling system. In medium-displacement Yamaha outboard engines, this gasket works under extreme temperature and pressure conditions, preventing the leakage of combustion gases and the mixing of coolant with lubrication oil. Its deterioration causes loss of compression, water infiltration into the crankshaft, excessive heating of the block and, consequently, irreversible damage to cylinders and pistons.
When to replace this part?
Symptoms of head gasket failure include white smoke from the exhaust, loss of coolant with no visible leak location, oil emulsification (milky appearance), difficult cold starting, and progressive loss of power. It is recommended to inspect it during each end-of-season maintenance and replace it preventively after 800-1000 hours of operation or if any sign of water infiltration into the crankcase is detected. A proactive change avoids strandings at sea and complete engine repairs that can cost 10 times more than part and labor.
