YAMAHA SEAL 93102-26M27
Description
Function and technical context
The 93102-26M27 seal is a sealing component that is part of the Yamaha engine lubrication and protection system. Its main function is to prevent oil leaks in the rotation areas of the crankshaft, ensuring that the lubricant remains confined in the crankcase and distribution passages. This dynamic seal works under variable pressure and temperature conditions, maintaining tightness between rotating and static surfaces. If the seal degrades or breaks, there is a progressive loss of engine oil, which decreases the viscosity of the lubricant, increases internal friction and can cause engine overheating, accelerated bearing wear and, in extreme cases, crankshaft seizure.
When to replace this part?
The most obvious symptoms of a damaged seal are oil stains under the engine, an abnormal decrease in the lubricant level between service checks, and a burning smell coming from the engine compartment. It is recommended to inspect the condition of the seal at each oil change (generally every 100-200 hours of operation in marine engines) and replace it preventively if signs of hardening, cracks or incipient leaks are detected. Preventive replacement of this component during seasonal maintenance prevents serious breakdowns at sea and ensures reliable operation of the lubrication system.
