YAMAHA CONNECTING ROD BEARING 93310-836V2
Description
Function and technical context
The connecting rod bearing is a critical component of the engine lubrication system that supports and guides the oscillating motion of the connecting rod within the cylinder block. In Yamaha engines, this bearing works under conditions of constant pressure, allowing the connecting rod to transmit the force of the pistons to the crankshaft while maintaining an oil film that prevents direct contact between metal and metal. Its premature wear causes loss of compression, abnormal metallic noises in the engine and, in extreme cases, crankshaft seizure and total engine failure.
When to replace this part?
Typical symptoms of bearing deterioration include knocking or metallic clinking coming from the engine crankcase, especially under acceleration, as well as a noticeable drop in the oil pressure indicated on the pressure gauge. Although there is no fixed replacement interval, it is essential to check the condition of the bearing during each engine maintenance and, necessarily, when a major repair or overhaul of the propeller is carried out. Preventive replacement during a scheduled inspection prevents catastrophic failures that can render the engine unusable in the water and require much higher cost emergency repairs.
