The water pump body is the central component of the cooling system in Yamaha outboard engines, responsible for driving and distributing the flow of cooling water through the engine block and cylinders. Integrated into the cooling circuit, this body works in coordination with the impeller and internal galleries to maintain optimal operating temperatures during navigation. Its correct operation is critical: a breakdown or blockage due to corrosion, sediment or impeller wear causes excessive heat accumulation, risk of engine seizure and significant loss of power in the water.
When to replace this part?
Symptoms of pump body wear include water leaks at the seals, abnormal overheating of the motor even with active cooling, and reduced discharge water flow visible in the outlet pipe.
