Function and technical context

This complete gasket kit hermetically seals the internal circuits of the Mercury two-stroke engine, ensuring the integrity of the combustion chamber and lubricating oil passages. The gaskets work in the sealing system of the block-crankshaft and cylinder head, subjected to compression pressure, repetitive thermal cycles and exposure to fuel-oil mixture. Its degradation causes loss of compression, entry of water into the chambers, leakage of lubricant towards the exhaust manifold and, consequently, engine overheating, loss of power and possible seizure of the crankshaft. This kit is essential in any major overhaul or repair of the engine block.

When to replace this part?

The gaskets require replacement when loss of compression in cylinders is detected during diagnosis with a compressor, presence of water in the crankcase (lube oil emulsion), oil leaks towards the exhaust or irregular engine behavior after prolonged storage. It is recommended to preventively replace the complete kit during any intervention that requires disassembling the block or cylinder head, avoiding costly repairs and unexpected navigation stoppages.
