Sacrificial anodes such as the Posillipo 122x81x20 are part of the boat's cathodic protection system, acting as an electrochemical barrier between the metals of the structure and salt or brackish water. This anode is installed directly on the hull or submerged metal elements, attracting galvanic corrosion to itself and protecting them from progressive oxidation. Without adequate anodic protection, propellers, shafts, rudder anodes and metal hull surfaces suffer accelerated wear that can compromise the structural integrity and hydrodynamic performance of the vessel. When to replace this part?
