When to replace this part?

The clearest symptom that the anode has exhausted its useful life is the visible reduction in its mass: when it has lost approximately 50% of its volume, it no longer offers sufficient protection and must be replaced immediately. Hull anodes should be inspected at least once a season, ideally at the annual beaching, and replaced whenever they show excessive wear, cracks, or a smooth surface without active roughness. Replacing the anode preventively at each annual tune-up is the most economical measure to avoid corrosion damage to high-cost parts such as shafts or propellers, which are considerably more expensive to repair or replace.
