Function and technical context

Teka Star Brite Premium Cleaner in 1 liter format (ref. STA81432) is specifically formulated for the cleaning and restoration of teak wood and other noble woods present on decks, cockpits, handrails and boat coatings. Its acid-free formula works by dissolving embedded dirt, organic stains and the effects of aging caused by continued exposure to the elements: sun, salt water, humidity and algae or moss residues. Unlike conventional harsh cleaners, this product does not lift the wood grain or require the use of subsequent neutralizers, making the onboard maintenance process simpler and faster. It is the first recommended step in a complete teak restoration cycle, prior to the application of oils or protective sealants.

When to use this product?

The deck teak must be cleaned with a specific product at the beginning of each nautical season and whenever a change in color towards gray or black tones is observed, an unequivocal sign of surface degradation due to weathering and the accumulation of fungi or deep dirt. It is also recommended to use before any oil or sealant treatment, as applying protection to dirty or aged wood drastically reduces the effectiveness of the finish. In areas with persistent stains or severe discoloration, it can be combined with the use of medium grade abrasive sponges to obtain optimal results without the need to sand the wood. Keeping teak clean and treated periodically prolongs the life of the wood and preserves the aesthetics and value of the boat.
