Description

Function and technical context

This fuel connector is part of the fuel supply system of the outboard engine, being the connection point between the tank hose and the engine fuel inlet. Its function is to guarantee a tight and continuous flow of petrol to the carburetor or fuel pump, avoiding leaks that could lead to a risk of fire on board or interruption of the fuel supply. The integrity of this connection is critical: a deteriorated or leaking connector can cause pressure losses in the circuit, difficult starts, idle failures or unexpected engine stops while sailing. Manufactured to precisely fit the Suzuki and OMC models indicated in the compatibility table, it ensures correct coupling with the standard fuel hose intake used on these series of outboard engines.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of a defective fuel connector are: the smell of petrol in the engine or boat area, visible fuel stains on the connection, difficulty maintaining pressure in the hose (the manual bulb does not harden or loses firmness quickly), and irregular starts due to lack of flow. This type of part must be checked at each seasonal tune-up, paying attention to cracks in the plastic, deformations of the connector body or deterioration of the interlocking system that prevents secure coupling. Replacing it preventively at the slightest sign of wear prevents breakdowns at sea and eliminates the risk of fuel leaks, one of the most serious dangers on a boat.
