Description

Function and technical context

The 91-34569A1 Bearing Puller is a slide hammer tool designed specifically for the controlled removal of bearings in MerCruiser, OMC and Yamaha marine engine transmissions and propulsion systems. It works on the transmission and tail system, allowing bearings housed in crankshafts, tail shafts and connecting rods to be removed without generating radial forces that could damage the seating surfaces or adjacent components. Its sliding impact mechanism distributes the impact axially and repeatably, which is essential in interventions on Bravo XR, Bravo XZ, Alpha One tails and high-performance transmissions where the tolerance between parts is minimal. Without this specific tool, attempting extraction with unsuitable tools can cause irreparable damage to the bearing housing, drive shaft or sealing seals, leading to costly breakdowns and prolonged downtime.

When to use this tool?

The use of this extractor is necessary when the transmission or axle bearings show symptoms of wear such as excessive noise under load, abnormal vibration in the tail, lateral play in the propulsion shaft or high temperature in the transmission area during navigation. For scheduled maintenance operations on MerCruiser Bravo and Alpha One engines, it is recommended to inspect and, if necessary, replace the drive bearings every 300-400 hours of operation or when any of the above symptoms are detected. Having the 91-34569A1 extractor in the workshop guarantees that disassembly is carried out without improvisations, preventing a routine maintenance intervention from becoming a major repair due to secondary damage.
