Function and technical context

This tail drain gasket is part of the sealing system of the propulsion assembly, sealing the drainage points of the aft body to prevent water from entering the engine and avoiding leaks in the circuit. It works in the tail area of ​​the outboard, where correct waterproofing is essential to protect the internal components against marine corrosion and humidity. Poor sealing in this area can lead to seawater entering critical cavities, causing irreversible damage to the transmission and lubrication mechanisms of the tail. When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of deterioration in a glue drain joint are the appearance of moisture or traces of water in areas that should remain dry, as well as visible signs of deformation, crushing or cracking of the material of the joint itself when performing a visual inspection.
