This gasket acts as a sealing element between the throttle body and the engine intake, ensuring that uncontrolled air leaks do not occur in the supply system. The throttle body regulates the flow of air entering the engine based on the pilot's demand, and any leak in its perimeter joint directly alters the air-fuel mixture, compromising the correct operation of the propeller. Poor sealing in this area can cause unstable idling, loss of throttle response and starting difficulties, especially on Suzuki DF series outboard motors where intake precision is critical to performance.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of throttle body seal deterioration include irregular or fluctuating idle, high fuel consumption without apparent cause and difficult starts when cold or hot, indicative of spurious air intake that the management system cannot compensate for. It is recommended that this gasket be inspected during each seasonal maintenance, as the cyclical heat and vibrations of marine use accelerate the aging of the sealing material.
