The stator is the fixed component of the charging and ignition system in OMC outboard motors, responsible for generating alternating current through electromagnetic induction when interacting with the rotating magnetic flywheel. Integrated into the ignition and battery charging circuit, it works in close collaboration with the charging coil, the regulator-rectifier and the ignition module to ensure stable electrical supply. A deteriorated stator directly compromises the charging capacity of the electrical system and can cause intermittent ignition failures or total loss of spark, leaving the engine unable to start while underway. This stator replaces OMC references 583561 and 584288, with replacement reference 0584288 being the updated version of the assembly.

When to Replace This Part?
