Function and technical context

The trim switch is the electrical component responsible for sending the command signal to the hydraulic trim and tilt system of the outboard motor, allowing the skipper to adjust the propulsion angle with respect to the transom during navigation. It is part of the electrical control circuit of the power trim & tilt system, usually integrated into the throttle lever or the boat's control panel. A faulty switch prevents the correct adjustment of the thrust angle, which directly affects navigation performance, fuel consumption and maneuverability in different sea conditions.
