The OMC Anode 3855411 is a cathodic protection component designed specifically for OMC and Volvo Penta outboard propulsion systems in 1994-1998 models. This anode is installed in the submerged structure of the tail to prevent electrolytic corrosion caused by galvanic interaction between dissimilar metals in contact with salt water.
The main function of the anode is to sacrifice itself in a controlled manner, progressively eroding, so that it protects the most valuable alloys of the engine and transmission.
